Bullying

Bullying is a serious problem that can be detrimental for self-confidence and self-esteem, and can lead to anxiety and depression, especially for young people.

Bullying can happen to anyone, both in obvious and subtle ways. It is a constant and relentless attack, chipping away at a person’s sense of self over time.

If you’re being bullied at school, try finding a trusted teacher, admin or counselor.

Types of Bullying

  • Physical bullying is the most obvious form of bullying. This includes hurting or trying to hurt someone’s body by kicking, hitting, pushing, tripping, pinching, or damaging another person’s things. Physical bullying can also happen in groups.

  • Verbal bullying can be more subtle, and is a type of psychological/mental abuse. This involves use of abusive words, statements, teasing, rumor spreading, inappropriate comments, and name-calling, as well as threats and insults.

  • Now more than ever, cyber bullying has been increasingly more common as a form of bullying. This occurs through technology, like social media platforms or messaging, and includes hurtful texts, unkind social media posts/comments, and chatroom harassment.
